Private Lessons
Lessons tailored to the student who is curious, disciplined, and ready to learn. Our lessons and the Sachiko Method is a proven way of study that is especially effective in both private and remote learning
What to Expect
Each lesson is part of a structured yet individualized process designed to help students build clarity, ease, and expressive control at the piano. Students may be beginners, returning learners, or advanced pianists preparing repertoire. What matters most is not level, but the seriousness and curiosity brought to the work.
-
The first lesson is both exploratory and diagnostic. We begin by understanding how you approach the instrument—how you listen, how you move, and how you think while playing. For beginners, this includes building a calm and solid foundation from the very start. For more advanced students, it may involve refining existing habits and addressing specific technical or musical challenges. From this, we establish a clear and practical direction for your practice.
-
My teaching focuses on helping students remove unnecessary friction between intention and sound. This applies equally to beginners learning their first pieces and advanced pianists working on complex repertoire. Rather than isolating “technique” and “music,” we develop both together from the beginning—so that sound, movement, and musical awareness evolve as one integrated process. Many students come to lessons feeling uncertain about how to practice effectively or how to progress consistently. The work is designed to bring structure to that process, so practice becomes focused, efficient, and meaningful. This approach aligns with the principles explored in my workshop, From Frustration to Flow: building clarity first, then allowing expression to emerge naturally from it.
Remote lessons are available and work particularly well within this approach. Because the focus is on clarity of thinking, listening, and process—not only physical demonstration—students often find that online study sharpens their awareness and independence. With a structured framework in place, the work remains precise, focused, and highly effective, regardless of location.
-
Practice is approached as a continuation of the lesson. Clear, specific guidance is given at each stage, adapted to the student’s level and needs. For beginners, this means establishing strong foundational habits from the outset. For more advanced students, it means refining efficiency, focus, and interpretive depth. The goal is not simply more practice, but more effective practice.
-
Over time, students expand their repertoire in a way of working at the piano that is stable and transferable. Beginners build a foundation that prevents confusion later. Advanced students refine and deepen their existing approach. In both cases, the goal is the same: a clear, sustainable relationship with the instrument that supports long-term artistic growth.

Lessons are designed not only to address what to practice, but how to practice—so that students develop independence, musical understanding, and a reliable process over time. This studio is best suited for students who are curious, focused, and willing to work steadily over time. It may not be the right fit for those seeking a casual or short-term experience.
